One of our key contributions lies in supporting academic and co-curricular activities at local universities. We recognize that both students and lecturers aspire to go beyond the classroom—they want to engage actively with the community by sharing their knowledge and skills through exhibitions, talks, media outreach, and educational trips. However, financial limitations can often stand in the way.
This is where Akademi Tenggara steps in. To date, we have supported initiatives like the "History-in-Action" exhibition, the Public History trip to Muzium Kuala Selangor, and Usrah-in-Action's community work with elderly residents in Selayang. These are just a few examples of our past and ongoing contributions.
To date, total contributions to academic and co-curricular activities = RM1, 428
Our co-Chair is an instructor of a community-based co-curricular core course at her university. We value very much the university's commitment in engaging and developing diverse communities in their Usrah-in-Action courses.
With that spirit, we agreed to put extra funding in sending care packages to a selected elderly residence in Selayang by sending dry supplies of groceries and adult diapers (RM +/- 300) in Q2, 2024
We have also added RM 400 for student activities (students bringing groceries and other items) in Q4, 2024.
Total support to date is roughly RM 700.
We funded the printing of 42 posters (total RM 168) and the purchase of exhibition easels (total RM 120) for
the Exhibition of History-in-Action on May 2024 at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM)
We funded the entrance fees (total RM 165) and tram ride (total RM 275) for an academic visit to Museum of Kuala Selangor and Traditional Games Museum in May 2024.
